Van Nuy-based Electro Rent , a firm which provides rental, leasing, and sales of electronic test equipment, said Thursday that it has won a bid to acquire the assets of Telogy, LLC, a bankrupt provider of electronic test equipment. Electro Rent said it would pay $26.7M in cash for Telogy, adjusted based on changes in Telogy's net accounts receivable, equipment purchases

Irvine-based Quartics , the video IC firm founded by Safi Qureshey, best known for founding AST, said Thursday evening that the firm has opened up a new center in Shanghai, China. The firm said the center will focus on video algorithm development and systems engineering. Quartics said it has more than twenty engineers in China today, and will be expanding to include as many as fifty personnel this year.
