San Diego-based DivX said late Friday that board member Jerry Murdock has resigned. Murdock is a managing director at Insight Venture Partners, and joined the firm's board of directors in 2005. Murdock will leave the company's board effective December 31st. Murdock joined the DivX board as part of a financing round, prior to the firm's IPO.

San Diego-based Axesstel, a developer of fixed wireless and broadband data products, said Monday afternoon that the firm's Chairman, Bryan B. Min has been on the firm's board since November of 2005, and is the founder and CEO of Epison System Solutions, Inc.

San Diego-based Qualcomm said Tuesday that it has named Paul E. Paul Jacobs was appointed CEO of Qualcomm in 2005, succeeding his father, and has been at the company since 1990. Irvine-based Broadcom is continuing its patent skirmish with San Diego-based Qualcomm, saying Tuesday that Qualcomm has been held in contempt of an injunction entered into last December, covering the use, sale, and import of certain EV-DO chips. in May 200 According to Broadcomm, Qualcomm has been ordered to retrieve the chips, and destroy them, or to pay Broadcom Qualcomm's gross profits on the sales. Broadcom also said that Qualcomm has failed to pay royalties on legacy EV-DO chips, also violating the injunction.

San Diego-based Intercasting (www.intercasting.com) is one of the companies which seems to have gotten some traction, and has deployed with Boost, Virgin, Sprint, and is in the process of deploying with Verizon and ATT. Historically, it was something that started to develop before our launch with operators back in 2005, and it now serves as a laboratory for development of our product. We seem to receive lots of pitches from companies looking to attack the mobile market with their mobile software applications, but few who have deployed on-deck with carriers. We spoke with Derrick

In about 2005, I started looking at the local market, and realized that there are not lots of enterprise IT companies here, which is Palomar's focus. The next two deals were companies in a company in San Diego, Verve Wireless, and a local company here called GumGum.
