Santa Monica-based venture firm Rustic Canyon , along with Intel Capital, has put more into Silicon Valley-based InSync Software , a developer of software for the RFID and supply chain tracking business. Santa Monica-based Userplane , which develops web widgets used by other online community sites, including chat and other collaboration applications, told its users today in an email that the firm's future "remains bright." Userplane was acquired by AOL in 2006. Santa Monica-based video games developer Activision has tapped former Yahoo! Rosensweig was most recently COO of Yahoo from 2002 to 2006. COO Dan Rosensweig as CEO of the firms's RedOctane business unit--the unit which is in charge of its Guitar Hero franchise. According to Activision, Rosensweig will oversee game development, hardware manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and marketing for RedOctane.
