El Segundo-based International Rectifier , a developer of analog and mixed signal ICs, announced today that it has been notified by the U.S. The issues first came to light in May of 2007. ...Tags: Attorney for the Central District of California, that it has concluded its investigation and won't be taking any action. The investigation was related to prior restatements by the firm.

Privately held, software visualization tool firm iRise , which is based in El Segundo, is claiming this morning that it has seen its software revenues for Q1 triple over last year. The firm said the big revenue gains follow a fiscal Q4 where its revenues surpassed its total 2007 revenues. Actual financial results for the privately held firm were not disclosed. iRise develops tools used by corporations to prototype and define their software projects before they are coded; the firm is venture backed by Morgan Stanley Venture Partners, Deutsche Bank, and others.

El Segundo-based Axiotron, a manufacturer of table computers running Apple's Macintosh OS, said Thursday that it has added Steve Wozniak to the firm's board of advisors. Axiotron is angel backed by the Tech Coast Angels, and was a winner of the Tech Coast Angels' Fast Pitch in 2007. Axiotron's tablet PC takes existing Macintosh computers and converts them into a tablet, based on Apple's MacBook systems. The firm allows users to order pen-based, tablet PCs based on Apple's MacBook, or allows users to convert their existing MacBooks into tablet form.

El Segundo-based iRise is among a number of Southern California companies which are reporting that the bad economy is actually driving growth at the firm. iRise said this morning that its software revenue for Q4 2008, just surpassed the "entire fiscal year 2007 total" at the company. iRise's CEO and co-founder, Emmet B. Keeffe III, said today in a statement that the current economic climate is "actually fueling our dramatic growth."
