Another class action lawsuit has been filed against Los Angeles-based Oversee.net , over a scandal involving shill bidding by one of the employees of the firm's SnapNames unit. The lawsuit is the second against Oversee.net, which revealed in November that it had uncovered a scheme by one of its employees to increase bids in SnapNames domain name auctions, which allows customers to bid on expired or expiring domain names. Los Angeles-based Oversee.net is in the midst of a major scandal today, as the firm revealed to customers that its SnapNames unit was the victim of a shill bidding scheme by a former employee. According to SnapNames, it discovered the shill bidding by that employee in October, finding that the bids had gone on since March of 2005--well before Oversee.net bought SnapNames, in June of 2007. The firm said it is will provide refunds on domain auctions to its customers, on a customer-by-customer basis, and has terminated the employee in question. Industry publications are reporting

Travel search site LowFares.com , which is owned by Oversee.net, is reporting that it has seen a jump in visitors to the site of 73 percent since the beginning of the year. LowFares.com is managed by Greg Samson; Oversee acquired LowFares.com in January of 2007. The firm told socalTECH that the boost came both because it has been more aggressive in search engine marketing, and a new travel deals newsletter which has driven customers to return to the site. LowFares said the search engine marketing efforts were the result of additional advertiser relationships the firm has secured
