History repeated itself in September 2008 with that market crash.
This isn’t a story about Black Swan events. It History repeated itself in September 2008 with that market crash.
This isn’t a story about Black Swan events. It A reminder that it is important for all entrepreneurs is to remember to be careful about “deal drift.” I I think the perfect saying to have as a reminder is “time is the enemy of all deals,” or as my wife is all too tired of hearing me say, “Don’t pop the champagne until the ink is dry on the contract and the money is in the bank.”

Luckily, I've found a GREAT way to make my time spent at events much better. I call it: Prenetworking I spend about 30 minutes prior to the event going through the list of attendees and reaching out ahead of the event to suggest that we meet while we are there. try to do this roughly about 2-3 days ahead of the event. I've never been able to walk into a large group of people and feel like I can "work the room." Sure, I've read various articles on this stuff, but honestly, I still struggle with meeting interesting people.

A while ago I posted about Secret for Networking at Events - Prenetworking where I recommended that people should look at who's attending the event prior to going to the event in order to make their networking more effective. Since I posted on this and since I've been using this approach for quite a while, it has become pretty obvious that part of the reason that old school organizations / event producers are not getting the value of providing this kind of list. I've received a lot of positive feedback on the post. And I think it hurts them in attendance.

Last Saturday, I was a panelist at the CalTech - Social Networks event. It was a really good event with lots of interesting folks in attendance. I would guess that there was about 100 people - on a Saturday in Pasadena. That shows some interest in the topic. The presenters had some interesting things to say on a wide variety of topics.

Generally, I prefer a single table or log that can be queried later that stores events. The right granularity of events is at the “business” event level, like “someone updated their profile” or “someone downloaded a video” rather than at the URL level. You might, for example, hold events in the rough key/value form:

So he went to events that let him connect with bloggers face-to-face.
Blogging celebrities like Robert Scoble have mobs of people around them at events. ( I’m sick of the usual interviews with Tim Ferriss , which waste time arguing over whether it’s possible to work four hours a week. What I want to know is how Tim got so many people to talk about him and his book, The Four Hour Work Week , and how he made his book into a New York Times Best Seller.

Here are some techniques for getting in for free, based on what I heard in my interviews and events.
She wrote about it in Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good , the book she talked about at this Mixergy event .
Copy a badge - I promised not to reveal his name, but a guest I met at a Mixergy event told me that he gets into top conferences by photocopying his friends’ badges.
When Timothy Ferriss came on Mixergy , he said meeting bloggers in person at conferences helped make his book a New York Times Best Seller. When Craig heard that, he

You might have noticed that Microsoft has been a big supporter of my events for startups? Keith and Chemda don’t have the budget to pay evangelists, but if they see that someone is creating an event around their show, they sometimes surprise them free Keith and the Girl merchandise to help them.
From what I can see, there’s no real profit in these events, so I asked them why they do it. Can you imagine having a community of fans that’s so passionate about what you’re doing that they tattoo your image on their bodies? I

In any event, kudos to Dmitri. So, those who know me might be asking why I was at Drupal Camp , or, more importantly, what exactly is Drupal camp. Drupal is an open source content management system (CMS)Â and also a content management framework. In a discussion about the hot CMS’, three are at the top of the pile, Drupal, WordPress and Joomla .

Even though most of their conversations happen online, Ed, Kevin and other Hacker News members have met in person at a Y Combinator event. Sanjay Sabnani, who runs some of the biggest online forums , told me that he often brings his online members together for in person events at his house.
I didn’t get what I was looking for from this interview, but I think what I learned is even better.
