A group of Hollywood studios has scored a win over RealNetworks today, as the firm settled a lawsuit which targeted a DVD copying and ripping service called RealDVD , which RealNetworks was attempting to launch into the market. Six major Hollywood movie studios, Viacom, and the DVD Copy Control Association had filed suit in September of 2008 over RealDVD, which was launched that same month to help consumers copy DVDs to their hard drive. According to RealNetworks, it is entirely dropping the service, and will pay $4.5M in costs and fees associated with the litigation, after

Tags: syfy deblob videogame content hollywood televisio Agoura Hills-based video game developer THQ and television channel Syfy said Thursday they will be jointly creating new concepts and intellectual property based on THQ's video games. According to the firms, the first move by Syfy will be the use THQ's de Blob franchise as the foundation of a new, Syfy Kids effort, focused on the youth market of 2-17 year olds.

According to the firm, it has hired on Daniel Paul as VP of Business Develompent, Michael Klein as VP of Sales, Chris Sniffen as National Sales Director, Steven Przybylowski as Director of Content Operations, Andrea Chu as Director of Content Distrbution, and Ron Lucero as Director of Software and Website Development. Hollywood Interactive Group, which develops an online web site for celebrity and entertainment news, said Thursday that it has raised $5M in a Series A funding round. According to Hollywood Interactive, the funding will go to develop its content initiatives, including MyHollywood.com, a web site for women focused on celebrity and entertainment news, fashion, casual games, and community.
