Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), as part of a potential use of the firm's in military vehicles. military vehicles--in 2008. San Diego-based PowerGenix , a venture backed developer of Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) rechargeable batteries, announced Tuesday that the firm has sold a number of its batteries to the U.S. PowerGenix said that the TARDEC is looking to test the firm's batteries as a possible replacement for lead-acid "6T" batteries currently in use in the U.S.

The IPO is being underwritten by CIBC and Mackie Research Capital. For 2008, the firm had a loss of $11.9M San Diego-based Fallbrook Technologies , a developer of continuous variable transmissions aimed at the electric vehicle market, has filed for an IPO, saying Tuesday evening in a filing that it is looking to raise up to $50M in an offering. Fallbrook is venture backed by Robeco Group, NGEN Partners, and others.

I’m researching this subject pretty heavily. Can you imagine having a community of fans that’s so passionate about what you’re doing that they tattoo your image on their bodies? I interviewed Keith Malley and Chemda Khalili because they built that kind of community and I wanted to learn how they did it.
Pasadena-based Arrowhead Research, a publicly held firm commercialization technology in the life sciences, electronics, and energy markets, said today that it has raised $5.4M for a number of the firm's subsidiaries. According to Arrowhead, it raised $2.7M for investment in its subsidiary, Unidym, from strategic investor Tokyo Electron Ventures.

Entrepreneurs spend a lot of time researching their market and customers.  But, when it comes to raising money, they tend to approach anyone with a heartbeat!   The problem with this approach is that a large majority of the investors you pitch are simply not appropriate for what you are doing or where you are as a company.  So, any time you spend on them is wasted.
