Woodland Hills-based United Online reported its fourth quarter and full year 2009 results Wednesday afternoon, saying that its communications segment--which includes its dial-up ISP business--had a revenue drop of 19 percent in Q4 compared with Q4 of 2008, dropping to $48.4M in revenues it reported for Q4 of 2008, but the firm reported a profit of $32.8M from the prior year's $60.1M. The firm's overall revenues totaled $249.5M

Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal filed for an IPO this morning, saying that it is looking to raise up to $100M. For 2008, the firm had a net loss of almost $7M on revenues of $146.68M. The firm's IPO is being underwritten by J.P. Morgan, BofA Merrill Lynch, citi, Piper Jaffray, Needham & Company, and Broadpoint.Gleacher.

The firm started out in 2004 with revenues of $100,000; the company reported it had revenues in 2008 of nearly $146.7M. Perusing the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list for this year — the ranking of the fastest growing companies in North America , based on the last five years of revenue–it’s quite surprising to note the sheer number of Southern California firms listed.

Fattail, which is venture backed by Velocity Interactive Group, Ted Meisel, and others, said that Bohra joins the firm from IAC. Bohra was Directof Operations at IAC.

Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo, which develops mobile marketing technology, said today that it has launched an effort with the Los Angeles Times to market classifieds, online automotive, and real estate advertising via mobile phones. Gumiyo said that it has rolled out a new service for the Los Angeles Times, to allow car shoppers and home buyers to use simple text messages to get information about listings, photos, and video on any handset. The new text messaging service also includes access to CARFAX Vehicle History Reports.
