The Orange County meeting is new for 2009, and while the following is true for the LA meeting the OC one is probably similar: You pay as you walk in, meet the organizers, get a name tag, fill a plate from the buffet, and then find a seat, family style, with the other approximately 100 networkers. Its success in New York quickly led to French Tuesdays being established in Miami in 2004, Los Angeles in 2006, San Francisco in 2007 and Paris in 2009. Send me your new, updated, or reviews of networking events and organizations. The Notable & Where I'm Going... Tell them you heard about it from Todd's blog! My time in New York was a good nine lives ago, but my adventures in both Los Angeles and San Francisco are fresh and ripe for dissecting. LA techies have to work harder to be taken seriously because Los Angeles is the entertainment mecca of the world, not the tech capital. However, while both crowds love to love the city of San Francisco, San Franciscans love to loathe Los Angeles, which is understandable in some regards. There is a saying about three different magnificent cities I have lived in twice. “If If you are smart, you move to San Francisco.

He talks about a bunch of the different networking events that occur in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California. You can use keywords like: Events in Los Angeles or Southern California Events or even Santa Monica Events . You can also use Southern California Tech Central's list of Organizations to find possible events: UCLA , CalTech , Twiistup , USC , AeA , TCVN , OCTANE , BarCamp , Enterprise Forum , TCOSC , LAVA , UCI , LINC , UCSD , AWT , Digital Hollywood , WITI , TechBiz , ASP , Stirrers and Shakers , AMA , ACG , Pepperdine
My friend Mark Long recently asked me about networking in Los Angeles. Rather than write something just for Mark, I thought I would let everybody else know what the good, tech-oriented networking events are in Los Angeles. There is a DFR event this month, September 2009. Mark is a CTO, see, and his company, PortBlue , was recently acquired (congrats, Mark!). After transitioning to the new team, Mark was left to wonder, what now?
Last month we Launched Los Angeles Tech and in the announcement we provide the Hot List for the first half of January 2009. When I drill down on that term, you can see why with posts like: Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals Lops A Third Of Company THQ Lays Off 100 Employees, Closes San Diego Office Citrix Cuts 10 Percent; Santa Barbara Hit And it's also interesting to see what geographies are being associated with "Layoffs" more often than others: Layoffs Woodland Hills Layoffs San Diego Layoffs Santa Monica Layoffs Los Angeles I guess this is

Great by Cliff Allen Business Networking Online who I had blogged about previously in Marketing, Startups and Networking in Los Angeles . I'm going to be working with people like Cliff and Steve Gilison (see Product Management for Startups in Los Angeles ) and Tom Humbarger (see Social Media to Build Reputation and Reach Prospects ) to create this online business networking group for Los Angeles. Cliff also sparked an idea that along with using in a separate conversations sparked the idea that we should be using Southern California Tech Central as a means of helping to
I'm hoping you can help me figure out who I should be connecting with on this. I find myself speaking at various venues in Los Angeles to tell people (most often service providers) about how I've used social media and particularly my blogs, LinkedIn, twitter and topic hubs as part of my own services business. I'd especially like to find people in Los Angeles. Who do you know that might fi These presentations always inspire people to do more with LinkedIn, create or improve their blog, and maybe do more with Twitter. Invariably I'm asked by an accountant, lawyer, wealth manager, placement specialist, insurance agent, etc.: How can I get more help setting up my blog?
I'm happy to announce the launch of the Los Angeles Tech Content Community . The goal is to create a place where it's relatively easy to find current content and highly relevant content surrounding Los Angeles Technology. To be clear Los Angeles Tech is a jump off point. This is the beginning of a content community that collects and organizes the best content from blogs and web sites. The content comes from other places.
They can figure out who they really want to connect with. What networking events in Los Angeles or Southern California do you go to? Digital LA is fun when I want to be social. Besides Tony Karrer for technology, who are some of your go to people in Los Angeles? There are too many to mention. Kurt Daradics ( Facebook , @KurtyD , FriendFeed , MySpace , LinkedIn , Delicious ) (pronounced dare-a-dix) is a great guy to know. He recently co-founded CitySourced and I think Ben Kuo nailed him when he describes him as "a connector.
Welcome to Los Angeles, city of angels, demons and everything in-between. I’ve had a rather in-depth look at the people and culture of the Los Angeles tech scene, both in person and virtually. Los Angeles is a transient city, with most residents hailing from elsewhere. For one of a million reasons you may find yourself here, perhaps you’re even trying to make something happen in the tech space. For those who are, I thought it might be helpful to share some of my own experiences.
