Los Angeles-based Everbridge,/b>, a developer of mass notification services, is jumping into the Web 2.0 world today, saying it has launched a "Web 2.0" The firm said its new Everbridge SmartGIS for Citizen Alerts is a Web 2.0 platform for emergency notifications. service which notifies citizens of emergency incidents, and also incorporates the ability to connect with citizens through user profiles and an interactive map.

Los Angeles-based Geni , the Web 2.0 online genealogy and family tree web site, has rolled out a number of updates today, including a bundling of its virtual gifts with its "Pro" subscription. According to Geni, all Geni Pro subscriptions now include unlimited virtual gifts, the firm's virtual items which can be sent to other members of the service. The gift items include special graphics and messages around birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other events.

Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless , which operates a network of Wi-Fi hotspots, has launched a promotion with Web 2.0 live video streaming firm Qik. According to the firms Tuesday, Qik will offer Boingo's services in a trial for 30 days, in addition to offering Boingo subscriptions to its users. Silicon Valley-based Qik allows smart phone users to stream video from their mobile phones, via wireless connections.
