Lunch.com is a social media website where people share and discover genuinely useful information, connecting to others with common interests while uncovering common ground with those who may appear to be their total opposites. Launched in April 2009 by J.R. Today Lunch.com announced its biggest product expansion to date, Communities; a platform that gives people the ability to create their own personal review websites on the Lunch.com site. For their launch they put together a SXSW Community where you can “Rate and Review SXSW Panels and Parties”.

No updates for Networking & Social Media Job Search Webinars, Teleconferences and Podcasts . Judging from the hashtag twitter traffic and the heads-down phone-illuminated-faces I saw in the crowd there was a high social-media user ratio. The Orange County meeting is new for 2009, and while the following is true for the LA meeting the OC one is probably similar: You pay as you walk in, meet the organizers, get a name tag, fill a plate from the buffet, Send me your new, updated, or reviews of networking events and organizations. The Notable & Where I'm Going... Tell them you heard about it from Todd's blog! With all the intertwining between both clubs, combined social circles, trading of tech employees, partnerships, conference shenanigans, and occasional grab-ass, there is quite a bit of cross over. Fast forward through a series of dark New York minutes and four years in Hollywood to a fortuitous rainy San Francisco night in May 2009, and I’m crashing Los Angeles transplant Drew Olanoff’s departure party, where I met former Gawker gossip king Owen Thomas, now of NBCBayArea.com. There is a saying about three different magnificent cities I have lived in twice. “If If you are smart,

I did a presentation about the use of Social Media to a great group of people who mostly are different kinds of service professionals (attorneys, accountants, consultants, etc.). You can see examples like eLearning Learning which gets more traffic than my eLearning blog. Other Thoughts Common questions I get at the end of a presentation like this are: Where can I go to get help getting going? Where do I find out more about getting going? I'm trying to build a network of people who can help with this as I discussed in Los Angeles Social Media Starters .

Done right, the social founder can leverage their massive number of followers and reach every key influencer they could ever dream of. Being a social founder isn’t for everyone, but there are a few who have done it well. Social Media Super Powers: It’s interesting (to me at least) the vast audiences that tech founders are able to assemble. Through their own products and others, they manage to build massive communities that in many cases, hang on their every word tweet.

I'm hoping you can help me figure out who I should be connecting with on this. I find myself speaking at various venues in Los Angeles to tell people (most often service providers) about how I've used social media and particularly my blogs, LinkedIn, twitter and topic hubs as part of my own services business. These presentations always inspire people to do more with LinkedIn, create or improve their blog, and maybe do more with Twitter. Invariably I'm asked by an accountant, lawyer, wealth manager, placement specialist, insurance agent, etc.: How can I get more help setting up my blog?
Some social media techniques take too much of your time. So I asked Chris Winfield to teach us some easier techniques for using social media. Chris is the Co-Founder and President of 10e20 , a search and social media marketing firm. Do you have any other social media techniques? Here are some of the techniques he recommended: Message boards - With Facebook/Twitter/etc getting most of the attention, it’s easy to forget how powerful message boards can be.

Based on a question I posted in LinkedIn, Serena Ehrlich posted How to Use Social Media to Find Prospects... and provides the following list of suggestions for ways to use social media to build a reputation and to reach prospects. Thanks for the thoughts Serena. Tom Humbarger had some great suggestions in his post Visible Networking with Tony Karrer – Los Angeles Social Media Starters . Or Sell a House... Her list included quite a few things that would likely be much farther down my list: Create short videos of your presentations.
