Woodland Hills-based Great American Group is part of a joint venture that also includes SB Capital Group, LLC, Tiger Capital Group, LLC, and Hudson Capital Partners, LLC to operate the going-out-of-business sales at Circuit City's stores. Woodland Hills-based United Online disclosed on its quarterly earnings call late Wednesday that it is cutting 96 employees, as part of a move to increase efficiency and streamline operations at the firm. According to the firm, 71 of the employees are being cut from Classmates Media Segment, which includes Classmates.com, with the remaining 25 from its Communications Segment, which includes its dialup service. The cuts are equal to five percent of the firm's overall workforce.

Woodland Hills-based United Online is continuing to squeeze as many profits and customers out of its declining dial-up Internet access business as it can, saying this morning that its NetZero division has launched a new, toll free dialup plan targeted at people who do not have local connection numbers to connect to the Internet. NetZero said the firm targets the five percent of the United States where there are very limited options for local dial-up Internet service. The company said the new toll free plan will cost $19.95
