Now that I work at MySpace I really need to better balance my SXSW time between interactive and music. While While I was flying out of Austin last Monday my MySpace Music colleagues were pouring in. Sponsored by MySpace, the Muse show was certainly one of those events.
While it’s great for us to have a “changing of the guards” that means I’m missing some great live music events. Sponsored Also miss it?

Los Angeles-based MySpace , under fire for selling its user data, said today that it is not selling its data. MySpace said that the data has been available through the MySpace Developer Platform, and allows software to pull publicly available, real-time data such as status updates, or when a user adds music, photos, or videos to their profile. Mike Jones, co-President of MySpace, said in the company's blog that "if a user does not wish to share their Real The firm said that its data is already available--free of charge--to third party developers, as well as such services as Google and its real-time search; and that it only shares data that users have made public.

Los Angeles-based MySpace reported yesterday that its mail service, MySpace Mail, now has 15 million accounts. Tags: myspace email mail social networkin The firm launched its mail service in August of 2009, which integrates the social networking service with traditional email service. The firm attributed the rapid signup to the service as a result of its automatic reservation of email addresses based on users' vanity URLs.

Los Angeles-based MySpace said today that it has launched a new, revamped version of the firm's game homepage, as a new MySpace Games site, to provide a more social gaming environment. The site also said it has rolled out a new iPhone application which allows users to play any of the games on the MySpace site on their iPhone. Los Angeles-based MySpace has linked its social networking site into Microsoft Outlook, the firm said this week. According to Mike Jones, co-president of MySpace, the new Outlook plug-in allows users of Microsoft Outlook to view their MySpace user activity and contact information. The new plug-in allows users to see friend activity updates in Outlook, create special contact lists for MySpace friends, and hyperlink to various updates, among other features. READ MORE>>

Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace reported Tuesday that the firm is now the top, social application on the Android platform, and is the third most popular downloaded application overall on the Android Market. MySpace trails T-Mobile's account information app and The Weather Channel's app in the store.
