We are back to our warm and sunny SoCal home. The The past two days at SXSWi in Austin Texas were a bit chilly and we are glad to be back. During During our stay TechZulu did a daily SXSWi Recap show featuring speakers, panelist, attendees, Start-ups and more from the conference at the Social Media ClubHouse. We We had a whole slew of guest from Brian Solis talking about his new book "Engage" to Chris Gammill talking about new start-ups

So when I saw the merely mortal Tristan with a normal sized Twitter following I clicked through to his link, saw his blog, saw that he was a second year at Stanford and just thought, “hey, he seems like an interesting guy. Maybe But I had an hour to kill before lunch and I was on California Street in Palo Alto. Yet 2010 is already showing me how connected our lives and our health are starting to become. Here There is one thing I learned a long time about about setting goals, “you manage what you measure” so you need to begin by regularly recording your weight.
So I signed up for the online version of Weight Watchers. It Bill Gates once famously said that people tend to overestimate the impact of technology in the 1-year timeframe and underestimate its impact in the 10-year timeframe. That’s That’s always stuck with me.

This is stuff I tell people verbally at least twice / month so I’m glad to finally get it into written format.
So eventually you have your company funded but only 2 of the 5 people who started the company are still around. Founded it as a California LLC but your potential VC wants a Delaware C-Corp? I recently read a post over on VentureHacks titled, “ Top Ten Reasons Entrepreneurs Hate Lawyers ” written by Scott Walker (who blogs on legal issues for entrepreneurs ). I know that people have an allergy to lawyers out of fear of being screwed.

But I digress… So the first challenge was weeding out the designers from the long list of Los Angeles Web Developers. So my flip suggestion was actually not all that helpful. Some other things he tried: LinkedIn – searched for people, but gave up pretty quickly as it felt like a needle in a haystack. Freelance Sites - he considered using one of the freelance sites, but was concerned about the quality he would get. Craigslist - He also considered advertising on Craigslist, but again was concerned about quality. Local networking – he had better luck by attending

For our Insights and Opinions section today, we have an editorial by John Savageau, President of Pacific-Tier Communications, who asks companies in Southern California to put local talent back to work.
2009 And SoCal successfully beat most of the United States in unemployment claims, by several percentage points, attaching painful and empirical fact to the grim situation.
But 2009 was a horrible year for job seekers, and even those holding on to existing jobs. No bonuses, no promotions, layoffs, and nobody hiring.
