Altadena-based AdventureLink , which operates an online marketplace for adventure and eco tour operators and trips, appears to have raised $1.29M in a new funding round, according to a regulatory filing. Source of the new funding was not disclosed, however, it appears that prior investors Anthem Ventures and Allegis Capital participated in the new funding round. Tags: No details on the funding have been announced by the company. The regulatory filing indicates that the funding was a combination of debt and warrants, most likely a convertible round.

What’s out, and what’s in as a theme for venture investments? An article posted on the WSJ site talking about an increase in VC interest in travel quotes local venture capitalist Jim Armstrong , of Clearstone Ventures , who says: “We’re excited about categories with a lot of money around them and there’s a lot of money in travel.”
There’s Pasadena-based LeisureLink (funded by Clearstone), Pasadena-based AdventureLink (funded by Mail Room Fund, Anthem, From the sounds of things, social networking is out, and travel might be up.

Interestingly enough, one of the firm’s local portfolio companies– AdventureLink , in Pasadena–just hired a new CEO from Yahoo, who has summitted Everest twice.

Los Angeles-based AdventureLink , which operates an online booking system for adventure travel, announced today that it has raised a Series A funding for the firm. The funding came from Anthem Venture Partners and The Mail Room Fund. According to AdventureLink, its online booking system allows travel agents to book adventure travel opportunities in 164 countries. Amount of the investment was not disclosed. The firm is headed by Kelly Tompkins, who was the founder of LeisureLink, which runs an online booking system for vacation rental owners.

Los Angeles-based AdventureLink , the new adventure travel booking site run by Kelly Tompkins, announced this morning that it has acquired a competitor, Adventure Central . According to AdventureLink, the all-stock deal also included a new investment from Allegis Capital. AdventureLink is also venture backed by Anthem Venture Partners and The Mail Room Fund. READ MORE>>

Last week, Altadena-based AdventureLink (www.adventurelink.com) announced that it raised a Series A funding round, for the firm's adventure travel reservation network. The round came from Anthem Venture Partners and the Mail Room Fund. Kelly Tompkins: AdventureLink is a reservation network, which allows consumers and agents to book adventure travel around the world. We caught up with Kelly Tompkins, the firm's founder and CEO, to hear more about the firm.
