Los Angeles.  People I believe you can attract people to relocate to Los Angeles but it’s likely that they’ll come from locations other than Northern California. Los Angeles has a strategic asset : content creation skills – In order for the Internet to go mainstream you first needed the infrastructure to support it from networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper) to databases (Oracle) to search (Google) and more recently mobile devices (Apple).  But People either love it our hate it.  All All the stereotypes and caricatures are overblown.  And

Los Angeles-based Mobile-XL , the international mobile information services firm backed by the Tech Coast Angels, said this week that it has linked a deal with Oberthur Technologies to include its XLBrowser Content Platform on Oberthur's line of SIM cards. The firms said that including Mobile-XL's software on its SIM cards will give Oberthur's customers access to new, sports, yellow pages, education, and other content. Los Angeles-based maniaTV, which develops video content for the web, said today that it has hired six new executives at the firm. According to the firm, it has hired on Daniel Paul as VP of Business Develompent, Michael Klein as VP of Sales, Chris Sniffen as National Sales Director, Steven Przybylowski as Director of Content Operations, Andrea Chu as Director of Content Distrbution, and Ron Lucero as Director of Software and Website Development. Los Angeles-based online publisher Break Media said today that the firm has more than tripled its branded content projects this year, and expects that it will grow 18 percent this year, despite the economy. Break, which operates a series of web sites focused on content for the young male demographic, said that it had what the company calls its "best revenue month" in the company's history in August, and is expecting revenue growth this year. The firm partly attributed the growth to its acquisition of HBOlab earlier this year, which the firm said it is using to ramp development of branded content projects for advertisers.
Los Angeles-based Break.com , which operates a video and entertainment web site focused on men, reports today that it has inked a partnership with G4's "Web Soup" television series, where "Web Soup" will feature a Break.com segment. Financial terms of the content deal was not disclosed. Los Angeles-based Big Stage Entertainment , which develops avatar creation technology for turning photos into animated, 3-D likenesses, said Wednesday that the firm has launched a new effort targeted training content creators on the firm's products. The firm said it will teach content partners how to use 3D graphics and animation tools to learn steps to mask and motion track facial images in stills and video, so that they can be used with the firm's 3D avatars. BigStage said its new online effort--Big Stage Studio--is aimed at production studios, advertising, marketing agencies, and others.
