Los Angeles-based Leads360 reported today that it has linked its sales lead management software with offerings from web-based mortgage software firm Optimal Blue . Leads360 is backed by Rustic Canyon Partners, and is headed by Dan Morefield, who was CIO of Overture Services before its acquisition by Yahoo. Leads360 said that its software--used to manage sales leads from online channels--will help mortgage lenders using Optimal Blue's software to close the gap between leads and revenue. Business details of the integration were not announced.

The firm is venture backed by Rustic Canyon Ventures, Crosscut Ventures, along with local angels Matt Coffin, Robin Richards, Brett Brewer and others. Santa Monica-based Docstoc , the online document sharing site run by Jason Nazar , is launching a new marketplace this morning which will allow users to sell their own content on the firm's site. According to the firm, its new Docstore will allow users to sell their professional documents from the site, splitting revenues with Docstoc.

Los Angeles-based venture capital investor Rustic Canyon Partners is part of a group investing $50M in private equity in San Francisco-based LoopNet, which operates an online marketplace for commercial real estate. According to LoopNet, Calera Capital, Trinity Ventures, and Rustic Canyon Partners are investing $50M in convertible preferred stock in the publicly held firm. According to LoopNet, the financing will provide it with additional resources in an "unprecedented market environment."

San Francisco-based investment firm Saints Capital , and Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Rustic Canyon Partners said Tuesday that they have formed a new fund, Saints Rustic Canyon, L.P., which has purchased the interest of nineteen different portfolio firms of Rustic Canyon Ventures, and a portion of eight other firms (note: Rustic Canyon is a sponsor of this publication, socalTECH.com). According to the firms, the sales gives liquidity to Rustic Canyon's single limited partner, which the firm did not disclose or mention, but has previously been disclosed as the Chandler Family Trust , the trust of the Chandler Family -- former owners of the Times Mirror Co. ,

Last week I hosted a panel of Los Angeles Venture Capitalists with Jim Armstrong (Clearstone Ventures), Mark Suster (GRP), David Travers (Rustic Canyon), and Brian Garrett (Crosscut Ventures). There has been a lot of conjecture about how the Venture community will respond to the economic downturn. My personal opinion is that its going to be bad, really bad.

Los Angele-based Leads360 , a developer of web-based, lead management software, is powering a new feature in Google's Adwords program, the firm said Tuesday. Leads360 is backed by Rustic Canyon Partners. According to Leads360, it is working with Google to help power the new AdWords Comparison Ads feature, which allows users of Google's search engine to find and compare mortgage quotes from lenders. Financial details of the win were not disclosed, however, Leads360 said its software is being used by mortgage originators to manage inquiries generated from Google's mortgage
