Arcadia-based Siimpel Corporation , which is developing MEMs-based components for mobile cameras, announced Monday afternoon that the firm has raised an additional round of investment from LG Innotek. Siimpel was formerly known as SiWave, and is backed by DOCOMO Capital Inc., Tags: innotek venture camera capital siimpel mem Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. Siimpel develops MEMs modules which are used to design higher quality, mobile phone cameras.

Arcadia-based Siimpel , a developer of micro-electro-mechanical optical technology, hauled in $8.78M in its November funding, according to figures released in this week's PricewaterhouseCoopers/NVCA MoneyTree report. The firm is backed by DOCOMO Capital, Qualcomm, Motorola, Micron Technology, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Portage Venture Partners, Zone Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, and SunAmerica. The firm--which disclosed the funding in November, but did not released financial terms of the round--is developing MEM-based optical systems which are targeted at enabling digital cameras in mobile phones and other mobile hardware.

Arcadia-based Siimpel, a developer of optical micro electrical mechanical systems (MEMs), said today that the firm has achieved ISO 9001 quality certifications. Siimpel is backed by Motorola, QUALCOMM, and Micron Technologies, along with a number of venture capital firms. Siimpel's MEMs semiconductors are being targeted at use in cellular phones for providing autofocus, image stabilization, and related features. The firm said the certification would help the firm provide its customers with the highest-quality products and services.
