Valencia-based Arvato Digital Services , a provider of supply chain, post production, replication, and software distribution services, said this morning it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Protexis, a provider of digital software distribution tools. Arvato is a division of Bertelsmann AG. Financial terms were not disclosed. Protexis provides digital distribution of software titles, and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The firm is venture backed by William Morris, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments and Trident Capital. San Diego-based RoyaltyShare , a provider of digital royalty accounting for music publishers, said today that it has expanded its royalty services for Canadian music labels. San Diego-based RoyaltyShare , a developer of software-as-a-service for tracking online music royalties, said today that the firm has expanded its service to handle tracking of royalties in the UK. RoyaltyShare is backed by Trident Capital, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI), and the William Morris Agency. RoyaltyShare said that it now supports mechanical royalties managed by the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS), used by UK record labels. The MCPS is the primary royalty collection society in the UK, similar to ASCAP in the U.S.

The new tracking system is in addition to RoyaltyShare's existing software for tracking digital music purchases and royalties. RoyaltyShare is backed by Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, Trident Capital, and the William Morris Agency. San Diego-based RoyaltyShare said this morning it will be developing a new system for tracking limited downloads and interactive streaming. According to RoyaltyShare, it will be rolling out a platform which tracks and automates the tracking of music subscriptions and streaming, based on the recent agreement by the music industry on revenue sharing
