If you think all mommy bloggers are sweet and innocent and talk only about diapers and soccer games you are in for a big surprise and a real treat. The #140 Characters Conference took place over the past two days at the Kodak theater here in Los Angeles. It aimed to focus on the real-time effects of using Twitter for business, but what I took away from it had much more to do with seeing people connect in real-time.

Aktino has previously raised funding from Crosspoint Venture Partners, Foundation Capital, Huntington Ventures, Innocal, J.F. Irvine-based Aktino , a developer of hardware for the telecom industry, has been acquired by a Canadian firm, Positron, Inc. The firms did not disclosed financial terms of the deal, however, said that Aktino will continue to operate from its Irvine location.

Tell Dr. Ramin Sadr is CEO of Los Angeles-based Mojix (www.mojix.com), a firm which is taking experience originally garnered by the firm's technology team in developing -- of all things -- deep space probes for NASA, and has been applying that to the RFID market. The company has developed technology which uses deep space communications techniques to dramatically extend the range of passive RFID tags,
