Calabasas-based Ixia , a developer of network testing tools and software, is reporting this morning that it has implemented a "cost reduction initiative" and cut 80 positions from the firm, in what it said was primarily an elimination of duplicate resources from the company's October acquisition of Agilent's N2X product line. Layoffs at personal finance software maker Intuit are set to hit a number of the firm's Southern California locations. Mountain View-based Intuit, which said in June that it would be laying off about 4 percent of its staff, disclosed through California WARN notices recently that it is laying off employees in Calabasas, Woodland Hills, San Diego, and Westlake Village as part of an overall, company-wide reduction. According to the notices, 29 of the employees The firm had earlier said that the cuts came in its Small Business Division, but had not detailed the location of the cuts.

Calabasas-based Ixia reported this morning that the firm is cutting its staff by 75 to 80 positions, or 9 to 10 percent of its work force, as part of a restructuring initiative. Calabasas-based THQ , which develops computer game titles, is closing its San Diego, UK, and Germany offices, and has laid off 100 employees, according to an email to employees from CEO Brian Farrell.
