Calabasas-based National Technical Systems , a provider of engineering services and testing labs, said today that it has expanded in both California and Texas with new facilities. The firm said it has opened a new 30,000 square foot laboratory for climate, environmental, and dynamic product testing in the Bay Area, as well as doubled its laboratories in Plano, Texas, to 50,000 square feet. Calabasas-based Ixia , a developer of network testing tools, reported its fourth quarter and 2009 year end results Thursday, saying that it lost $31.3M The revenues were boosted by two acquisitions, including the firm's buy of Agilent's N2X Data network Testing Product Line in October, and the acquisition of Capapult Communications in June. in Q4 of 2009, on record revenues of $56.1M in Q4.

Calabasas-based Nova Development , the consumer software publisher now owned by Avanquest Software, said today that it has signed an agreement with Ancestry.com, to publish the retail editions of Ancestry.com's Family Tree Maker genealogy software. Nova Development will provide both development and marketing of the title, including integrating the retail boxed software with Ancestry.com's current online products. Calabasas-based Ixia said Wednesday that it has signed a definitive agreement to buy a product line from Agilent Technologies, in a deal worth $44M in cash. According to Ixia, it will acquire Agilent's N2X Data Networks Product Line, as part of a move to accelerate the firm's growth. Agilent's N2X Data Networks product line is used for testing and validating next generation networking equipment, including The firm said it was advised by Moelis & Company and Bryan Cave LLP in the deal. Ixia said the deal includes N2X's customers, sales, and R&D teams.
Chatsworth-based MRV Communications said yesterday that it has been selected by Calabasas-based Spirent Communications as part of a testing product. MRV said that its power control products are being used as part of Spirent's xDSL Automated Regression Test offering, which is used by equipment manufacturers to test their networking equipment. San Diego-based Concerro , a developer of workforce management software for the hospital and healthcare industry, said today that it has acquired RES-Q Healthcare Systems , which is based in Calabasas. Concerro said that RES-Q's President, Michael Meisel, joins Concerro as VP of Product Management and Marketing as part of the buy. Concerro also said all of its employees and its Calabasas Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. RES-Q provides workforce management software for staff and nurse scheduling.

Calabasas-based network testing equipment firm Ixia said today that the firm's equipment has been used by an independent test lab to test energy efficiency of products. Ixia rolled out a demonstration of its IxGreen product in April at Interop, but has not yet fully released the product into production.
