Earlier this month, Azusa-based CFX Battery , a stealthy battery technology spinout from Caltech, announced it had raised a new round of funding worth $14.2M. How did Contour Energy spin out of Caltech?
Joe Joe Fisher: Back about three years ago, Caltech took some of the intellectual property involved with this to an event, where once a year they invite venture capital groups to come in. This week, the firm announced that it was renaming itself Contour Energy (www.contourenergy.com)--and said it was ready to talk about what its battery technology is all about. Joe

The spark for this post is that I'm going to go to Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum on Saturday. They really need to take a look at how Twiistup , Mixergy and others are doing to both promote and help make their events better for attendees. A while ago I posted about Secret for Networking at Events - Prenetworking where I recommended that people should look at who's attending the event prior to going to the event in order to make their networking more effective. I've received a lot of positive feedback on the post.

Don’t worry if they can’t help in your daily business. There There are other ways you can get help. Surround Scott Sangster has made a good case for himself at the two events I’ve seen him speak at recently and I know that people love Bryce Benjamin and say he’s hands on / helpful.

According to FastSoft, the firm's products are being used to help speed the upload of content objects to Limelight's servers. FastSoft is a Caltech spinoff which has developed software appliances which accelerate TCP transfers; the firm's technology uses an optimized version of the TCP protocol to accelerate data transfers. Pasadena-based FastSoft, which develops Internet acceleration appliances, announced Monday morning that the firm's hardware has been deployed by Limelight Networks. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.
