According to Energy Secretary Steven Chu, the DOE has awarded the $47M across 14 projects across the country, including a project from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and one from Federspeil Controls. That's where I learned I enjoyed interacting with customers and working with development teams to build and launch products. From there, I became the first non-founder employee at an e-commerce startup called BITSource, which was the first electronic software distributor delivering electronic volume software licenses to corporations. have also attended Thursday Lunch ( thursdaylunch.com ), Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum , and Digital LA . Visible networking is turning into a really great opportunity to get to know people better, get to meet new people, and have some interesting conversations.

Marina Del Rey-based Guidance Solutions said Monday that the firm has signed on Caltech's Industrial Relations Center as a customer. Pasadena-based Protabit , a brand new startup based on research from Caltech, and chemical giant Monsanto disclosed this morning that the two firms have entered into a two-year collaboration, to develop new tools for protein design and optimization. Protabit, founded by Caltech professor Stephen Mayo, and Duke University professor Homme Hellinga, said the firm's software tools will be used to shorten the product discovery process for Monsanto. Pasadena-based FastSoft , the Caltech spinout developing Internet acceleration devices, disclosed earlier this week that it has rolled out a new product. FastSoft is venture backed by Miramar Venture Partners, Caltech, and angel investors. The firm's technology is based on software research at Caltech, originally designed to accelerate file transfers over the Internet2. The firm said its new E Series EX accelerator now supports 10Gbps throughput, and accelerates TCP traffic 2 to 5 times.
