Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures , the venture capital firm backed by Walt Disney Co., According to Beijing-based Yoyi Media , it received a Series A investment on undisclosed size from Steamboat Ventures and Gobi Partners. Steamboat has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong in addition to Los Angeles.

Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures , the venture capital arm of Disney, is one of the investors in Bay Area-based mobile games advertising firm Greystripe , which raised a $5.5M Greystripe said the funding round was led by Incubic Venture Capital, and also included Monitor Ventures, in addition to Steamboat Ventures. Steamboat was the lead Series C funding today. Greystripe's services insert in-game ads into mobile games, and the firm also operates the GameJump.com mobile games portal site.

Los Angeles-based Steamboat Ventures has set its sights on the celebrity web space, and is the lead investor in a new round of funding for Fanzter , which operates the celebrity products site Coolspotters.com . According to Connecticut-based Fanzter, Steamboat's Dan Beldy joins the firm's board of directors. The move is somewhat unusual for Steamboat, Coolspotters is a web site which highlights which products celebrities are buying and wearing. Steamboat is the venture capital arm of Walt Disney.

Passenger is venture backed by Shelter Capital Partners, StarVest Partners and Steamboat Ventures. Los Angeles-based Passenger , an operator of online communities for brands, said Wednesday that it has named Michael Winner as the firm's Senior Vice President of Technology. Winner has served at Ideal Soft and Blink Logic, in addition to working at IBM, Compaq and KPMG.
