QLogic said Darling will be based in Singapore and will report to Scott Genereux, the company's senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. Chatsworth-based DataDirect Networks , a manufacturer of storage systems focused on the high performance market, said Monday that the firm has created a storage system specifically targeted at cloud storage. DataDirect said its new Web Object Scaler (WOS) product is specifically focused on solving performance, scalability, and management problems associated with content creation, storage, and distribution. The firm is focusing its new product on use for storing Internet content, including photo, video, music, social networking, and other sites, as well as use in data intensive applications

Chatsworth-based MRV Communications has been dropped from the NASDAQ Stock Market, the firm said this morning, saying that it has failed to demonstrate compliance with various Nasdaq Marketplace Rules around filing of quarterly and annual reports. Chatsworth-based Aleratec , a manufacturer of hard drive, DVD and CD duplication and other hardware, said Monday that it has hired on Howard Wing as the firm's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Wing joins the company from Plextor, where he was VP of Sales and Marketing. Aleratec's hardware includes hard disk duplicators, and DVD and CD publishing products. Chatsworth-based data storage provider DataDirect Networks is reporting this morning that the firm's products have been selected by Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL) for a supercomputer storage installation. DataDirect Networks manufactures high speed data storage devices, specifically geared toward the high performance computing (HPC) market. DataDirect said that sixteen of the firm's S2A9900 products are being used in LLNL's next generation computational simulation environments. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.

Chatsworth-based Capstone Turbine , a manufacturer of microturbine systems for the power generation market, announced this morning that the firm has laid off 22 positions at the firm. According to Capstone, the cuts came on March 23rd, and are on top of a February cut of 19 employees and 16 open positions at the company, bringing the firm's total employees to 212.
