Chatsworth-based Logicube , a developer of hard drive duplication and electronic forensics products, announced this morning that it has acquired the intellectual property behind its CellDEK technology. Chatsworth-based MRV Communications , a developer of optical transport products, said Monday that it has named Joan E. Herman as Chair of its board of directors. Herman replaces Shlomo Margalit, who continues as a board member and as MRV's Chief Technology Officer. The company also said that Harold Furchtgott-Roth, Guenter Jaensch and Dan Tsui have all retired from its board.

MRV said that its power control products are being used as part of Spirent's xDSL Automated Regression Test offering, which is used by equipment manufacturers to test their networking equipment. According to Logicube, Abraham has also previously served at Lucent Technologies, and has over 10 years of engineering and product development experience. Logicube develops products used for disk drive duplication and Abraham joins the firm from Strix Systems, where he was System Architect.
Chatsworth-based Aleratec , a manufacturer of hard drive, DVD and CD duplication and other hardware, said Monday that it has hired on Howard Wing as the firm's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Aleratec's hardware includes hard disk duplicators, and DVD and CD publishing products. Chatsworth-based data storage provider DataDirect Networks is reporting this morning that the firm's products have been selected by Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL) for a supercomputer storage installation. DataDirect said that sixteen of the firm's S2A9900 products are being used in LLNL's next generation computational simulation environments. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. DataDirect Networks manufactures high speed data storage devices, specifically geared toward the high performance computing (HPC) market.
Chatsworth-based Capstone Turbine, a developer of microturbine systems for producing energy, said Monday that the firm has signed KLIMA, Distribuidora y Comercial Termica Ltda., a distributor of products in the country of Chile. According to MRV, the firm's OptiSwitch equipment has been chosen by the Mesquite Independent School District, as part of an effort to migrate away from expensive leased fiber-optic network services.
