Thomas reports to Jay Stevens, Rubicon's new VP and GM International, who the firm snagged from MySpace last month. Rubicon Project is backed by Clearstone Venture Partners, Mayfield Fund, and IDG Ventures, and operates a service which optimizes online advertising networks and ads for Internet publishers. Rubicon is venture backed by Clearstone Venture Partners, Mayfield Fund, and IDG Ventures. We spoke with Phil Ressler--a former venture capitalist from Clearstone Ventures--who is now CEO of BigStage.
For They want a means of representing themselves that is animated, and changeable, and actively communicates in places like MySpace, Facebook, and other social networks. The other thing you can do with BigStage, is you can save your avatar--or what we call and @ctor, into animated form on your MySpace or Facebook profile.
Will Pasadena-based BigStage (www.bigstage.com) is one of those rare companies that has taken technology developed from university research, and is now bringing that technology to the commercial market.

A few months ago, Peter Lee --a venture local capitalist who has served at firms such as Prism Ventures and Clearstone Ventures Partners--joined a relatively unknown venture firm here in Southern California, Baroda Ventures (www.barodaventures.com). From MySpace, to Google, to Yahoo, to other large successful companies like LowerMyBills--all of these firms have built a good presence here, with lots of product and engineering talent. We caught up with Peter earlier this week to get the background on Baroda, and to talk a little about the firm's investment goals.
