Santa Barbara-based Cogi , a startup which allows people to capture and transcribe conference calls and conversations, announced today that it has released a new, iPhone application. The app costs $1.99, and Cogi said that users can also subscribe to other, Premium service options which add transcription and other features to the software.

Santa Barbara-based RightSignature , online, software-as-a-service for collecting electronic signatures, took "Best of Show" at VentureNet Wednesday, after a day of presentations by thirteen Southern California startups. VentureNet, which is put on by the Technology Council of Southern California, included keynotes by Kelly Perdew of Rotohog and Zorik Gordon of ReachLocal, plus capital presentations from Cyber-Rain, FlipGloss Media, Viewdle, Social Approach, Ad.ly, Zadspace, RightSignature, Cogi, YouMail, ExpenseBay, AffordIt.com, SharesPost, and TrueCar. socalTECH.com was a media sponsor of the event.

The Los Angeles technology crowd turned out in full for last week's Twiistup 5 event--a showcase for startups looking for exposure and funding--with over 1,000 attendees at a private aircraft hangar at the Santa Monica airport. The winner of the judge's choice award was Cogi , a Santa Barbara-based firm which develops a service for transcribing conference calls and meetings; TotSpot , which operates a social networking site that allows families to create private sites for their children, was awarded "Fan Favorite" for the most votes from the crowd. Cogi was co-founded by Robert Dolan, former co-founder and CEO of Callwave; Mark Cromack, co-founder of CrystalVoice Communications; and Palmer Jackson, who also was at Callwave.

A new Santa Barbara-based startup, Cogi , said today that it has launched a new service focused on helping consumers and professionals take notes on their phone calls or meetings. Cogi said it will charge $29.95 Cogi's service works by dialing into an access number via speaker phone for conference calls, by connecting Cogi into conference call numbers via a computer application, or The firm--which was founded by Robert Dolan of Callwave, Mark Cromack of CrystalVoice, and Palmer Jackson of Ideocore--allows users to record important phone calls and in-person meetings, and transcribes "key points" of those meetings into digital form.

Twiistup 5 –the brainchild of Mike Macadaan–lets startups show off their products to the crowd in a very non-conference setting (this time, a private hangar at the Santa Monica airport).
