Scott Morrow: Sports/outdoors is quite interesting, that's the fastest growing lifestyle category in e-commerce. commerce was relatively flat in 2008 and 2009, but if you look at the lifestyle category, the biggest growing area within lifestyle was sports and outdoors. But, with our existing businesses, joining Curate can be a value add for an entrepreneur or business owner, who has a great initial site with a sports/outdoor focus and just needs a bigger platform. Last month, Santa Monica-based ThisNext announced that it was acquiring Stylehive, an online site focused on fashion and beauty.

Let me just start this thing and see where it goes and I’ll go back to school.” think the biggest breakthrough for us came in 2003 or 2004 with the understanding that there was an open-source product called OS Commerce that had a large following — but the service providers on the market weren’t really sophisticated, and there weren’t that many of them.
So I just spend a few hundred dollars in Google AdWords, trying to get OS Commerce clients. Roy Rubin was a student trying to make extra money on the side when he founded Varien, the company that went on to launch Magento, an ecommerce platform that enables billions of dollars in online sales.

He has a really interesting background as a product manager and now an entrepreneur. Tell me a bit about your background. Like many product managers, my background is fairly eclectic. That's where I learned I enjoyed interacting with customers and working with development teams to build and launch products. From there, I became the first non-founder employee at an e-commerce startup called BITSource, which was the first electronic software distributor delivering electronic volume software licenses to corporations. Visible networking is turning into a really great opportunity to get to know people better, get to meet new people, and have some interesting conversations.

invited him on Mixergy to talk about some of the game-changing ideas Oodle took on, like giving users analytics, partnering up with companies like Facebook and making classifieds social.
We also talked about the worries that entrepreneurs have to battle, the importance of culture and the heady days at Excite.
Craig: So we’re really tipping and starting to achieve critical mass. Early in his career, Craig Donato worked for Excite, a pioneering search engine. When I asked him, "Why do you think Excite didn’t beat Yahoo?"

In 1790, he began offering a service that eventually transformed world commerce and generated trillions of dollars of wealth. As noted Fast Followers II , fast-follower entrepreneurs must have a solid point of differentiation in order to succeed. Over the past few years, I have been trying to make the connection between startups and some of the new web based tools that are in the news. Unfortunately, blogging or social media tools just don’t resonate with many entrepreneurs. Every startup is challenged by restricted financial resources, extreme time limitations and the need to build their brand in order to get the traction they need and, by association, grow their businesses. They just didn’t make the connection to their usefulness.
Now coming from a technology background where I was always looking at future

However, in the world of startups, relationships that go beyond a casual acquaintance can provide your adVenture with a significant competitive advantage.
The difference between the relationships established by members of a startup and those pursued by employees of a BDC is analogous to the contrast between the teacher / student relationship at private and public elementary schools. However, at your startup, This is a reposting of a ‘classic’ popular post.
