One of the challenges of using Web analytics techniques to improve a site's performance is that Web analytics can only measure what's there - not what's missing. Both sites needed to make adjustments that put their Web sites on the path that consumers normally follow when making purchases. Some or these changes dealt with what customers do before going on the Web to make a purchase. In working with two new clients I found that the most of their key indicators in Google Analytics were fine, but revenue was below their potential. Other changes dealt with matching
Los Angeles-based Stamps.com is furthering its focus on online stories, saying today that it has linked its product to the e-commerce payment systems for Amazon.com Pro Merchant, Yahoo Merchant, Google Checkout, and Paypal. According to Stamps.com, the firm's software now allows web store managers to process, manage, and ship orders from "virtually any" e-commerce source. The new additions come on top of an existing push by Stamps.com to cater to eBay merchants. Stamps.com recently started looking back into the eBay shipping market, saying in early October that it would
Aliso Viejo-based Buy.com , the online e-commerce retailer, said today that it will provide free web site hosting of e-commerce sites as part of a new, turnkey tool for developing affiliate e-commerce sites. According to Buy.com, its new StoreBuilder tool will allow its affiliates to easily create their own customized site featuring products from the retailer. We did eeommerce, we did web applications, anything and everything people wanted. think the biggest breakthrough for us came in 2003 or 2004 with the understanding that there was an open-source product called OS Commerce that had a large following — but the service providers on the market weren’t really sophisticated, and there weren’t that many of them. So I just spend a few hundred dollars in Google AdWords,  trying to get OS Commerce clients. Roy Rubin was a student trying to make extra money on the side when he founded Varien, the company that went on to launch Magento, an ecommerce platform that enables billions of dollars in online sales.
didn't know what to expect, but I thought that if you put up a web site, you know, people will come. Our web developer had no end to his complaints of OS Commerce [the ecommerce platform they used]. Not to say that OS Commerce is not a great platform for someone to get started with. Somehow, as Luke Burgis raced to build his business, he ended up selling fitness bars, cereal, pet supplements and "sexual enhancement" products. At the same time, he found himself running an online message board and a YouTube-like video site.
For example, if you wanted to build an e-commerce site in 1996, it was really hard!  Any efficiencies LAMP was barely usable and it took many man-years to launch a web-application. Fast forward to today and the same web applications are built with off-the-shelf open-source components.  And Is your business’s success going to be based on execution or technology?  Or Or is it something in between?

They were going to bring the Internet to your mobile phones ushering in the era of “m-commerce.” had just returned from living in Japan where I witnessed the hugely successful launch of i-mode by NTT DoCoMo so I knew the potential that the mobile web would ultimately bring, but I saw so many flaws in the launch of WAP.  But The power of the web increased dramatically and “Cloud Computing” began to take a huge leap forward. Absolute Power Corrupts, Absolutely I
Over the past few years, I have been trying to make the connection between startups and some of the new web based tools that are in the news. In the old days, say five years ago, you needed tons of cash to build your brochureware web site, hire a PR agency, and a marketing firm who would go out and help you defining your market and then research your target demographics and tell you what your customers are looking for. It also costs Unfortunately, blogging or social media tools just don’t resonate with many entrepreneurs. They just didn’t make the connection to their
