San Diego-based Anametrix , a new business analytics software firm headed by Blaise Barrelet, founder of WebSideStory, announced this morning that it has acquired Nordic Research Corporation , a business analytics technology firm. Anametrix said that the founder of Nordic Research, Anders Olsson, joins the company as Chief Technical Officer. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Olsson was System Architect at WebSideStory.

San Diego-based b>EMN8 , a developer of order taking kiosks for the fast food industry, has raised $14.4M The funding has not been announced by the company. in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. EMN8 is backed by GRP Partners, Sid R. Bass Associates, and Fort Washington Capital.

San Diego-based Fallbrook Technologies , a developer of continuous variable planetary transmissions being applied to the electric vehicle and other markets, is tapping a Chinese manufacturer for its products, the company said today. Fallbrook said it is using Tri-Star Group to manufacturer its Nuvici continuously variable planetary (CVP) transmission, beginning in Q2 2010. Business arrangements behind the manufacturing agreement were not announced.

Venture capital firm Sofinnova Ventures has hired on an Executive-in-Residence based in San Diego, the firm said Thursday. According to Sofinnova, Ekman will work to identify and build early stage companies, and will be based in San Diego. Sofinnova is an investor in a number of San Diego firms, including Cebix, Intellikine, Ocera Therapeutics, Phenomix, and Trius Therapeutic Sofinnova, which invests in early stage life sciences and IT firms, said it has appointed Lars Ekman, M.D., Ph.D.
David Titus , a venture capitalist at Windward Ventures , has joined the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation as Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives, the nonprofit said yesterday. San Diego-based American Internet Services, a Internet data center co-location provider, said Tuesday that the firm has been acquired by an investor group lead by private equity firm Seaport Capital.
