The company said the Los Angeles expansion comes because of "strong sales" in its music, media, and consumer products/brand licensing divisions. Counterpoint Systems provides rights management and royalty software to such firms as 20th Century Fox, BMG Rights Management, eMusic, Mattel, Michelin Lifestyle, MTV Networks, NHL Enterprises and Paramount Pictures; the firm's global headquarters are in London.

Fountain Valley-based memory maker Kingston Technology , and Paramount Digital Entertainment said Monday afternoon that the two are in a deal to deliver full-length, motion pictures on Kingston's flash memory products. According to Kingston Digital, an affiliate of Kingston Technology, and Paramount Digital Entertainment (PDE), a division of Paramount Pictures, they will provide the movies via bundles and for sale on USB and SD cards. Financial details of the deal and specific titles which will be available were not disclosed by the companies. Kingston said it will be bundling

While the fit/capability of the team is paramount to my decision, I find it is better left until after I understand the basic premise of the business so that I can really assess the business purely on its own merits. In VC, when I am assessing the “fundability” of a company, I find that out of the many many factors that can influence the business, it generally boils down to 2 or 3 critical issues that make the decision. In meeting with entrepreneurs, especially those that I haven’t met or heard about before, I often ask them to give me the 5 min overview of the business before we dive into any details or the formal presentation deck.

Microsoft's MSN, and Santa Monica-based media firm BermanBraun Interactive said today that they have rolled out a new celebrity news site called WonderWall , which will feature information on what the companies described as the "hottest" pop culture stories, personalities, and trends. According to the two companies, the lead editor for the new site will be Alex Blagg, former founding editor of VH1's "Best Week Ever" blog. According to the firms, the new, stand-alone site will also be featured throughout the MSN network, and is designed to have the look and feel of a magazine.
