A few weeks ago, Rahul Sonnad --a serial entrepreneur who is best known for founding and selling thePlatform to Comcast--alternately confused and dazzled attendees at Twiistup, the Los Angeles tech conference, with a fake-stilted-Indian-immigrant and ukulele-singing-and-dancing studded pitch for his firm, Geodelic (www.geodelic.com). We caught Rahul in a more serious conversation, and spoke to him about his venture funded, location-based information startup and what it's up to, as well as got the story behind the firm's incubation at Clearstone Ventures. This was evident at the Twiistup pre-event company pitch last week at UCLA.  Francisco Francisco Dao came up with the idea of letting 10 companies that weren’t selected for Twiistup to do a presentation the night before to a group of people and let the audience pick one company to win the final slot at Twiistup.  I I’m not saying the companies were bad – many were not.  But Most people suck at presenting to big groups.  It’s It’s a shame because the ability to nail these presentations at key conferences can be

started the series talking about what I consider the most important attribute of an entrepreneur :  Tenacity .  I Funnily enough I was at the Twiistup conference yesterday and I was chatting with an engineer whom I really like and he told me that he enjoyed reading this series but that now he wasn’t sure he was ready to see me because he wasn’t sure that he scored highly enough on all attributes.  So Think Yelp doesn’t wake up daily thinking This is part of my series on  what makes an entrepreneur successful .  I originally posted it on  VentureHacks ,
Twiistup 6 took place last week and this time around, under new management, the event went through a few changes. Instead of a one evening mixer that highlighted the showoffs and gave people a chance to mingle and get to know the companies, it was expanded to a two day conference with panels, and plenty of time for mingling. This part of Twiistup was entirely new, previously the showoffs only had the ability to connect with the attendees at their booths.  Each Day one had five panels scheduled as well as time for each of the showoffs to take the stage and give a presentation.
Twiistup , the technology and media networking event being held July 30 and 31st at the Universal Hilton, released its list of companies being featured at the event today, saying that it has picked 11 companies to present at the event. The firm said its "Showoffs," who have the opportunity to show their companies to attendees at the event, include 4 Northern California firms, one New York firm, and six companies from the Los Angeles area. Los Angeles area startups presenting include ExpenseBay, EQAL, Bakespace, Streamy, Mobophiles, and Educator.com. Twiistup's
Rubicon wants to send two lucky students to Twiistup! Nicole Jordan , Director of Integrated Communications for Rubicon, loves helping others and decided to create two Twiistup “scholarships” for budding entrepreneurs to be able to attend the one of a kind event. Twiistup offers two days of panels, Q&A sessions, start up pitches and a mixer that these lucky grad or undergrad students will get to be a part of. The idea behind the scholarship, is to give young college students the chance to connect with the leaders in the Business community.

To all the people who whined that Twiistup’s startup competition was unfair, here’s my answer: All startup competitions are biased. was a judge at this past Twiistup, so I got to see the process from the inside. I’ll teach you what I learned so you can use it to You’re right. Now stop whining and learn to win.
This video will show you the sartups that will show off at the next Twiistup , an event which highlights promising startups. was one of the judges who selected this group of startups, so I wanted to tell you who they are and what they do. In case you missed it, the organizers of the upcoming Twiistup technology showcase and conference have launched a new way to get your company to present at the event (and also, a good way for them to attract more attendees) — they just announced a “Wildcard Demo” where attendees can vote via text messaging for who they want to present on-stage. Any STARTUP attending Twiistup on a regular ticket can sign up for stage time at Wildcard Night January 27th 6:00-9:00 at UCLA. Francisco Dao writes: Wildcard Demo signups are now open.
