couple of weeks ago, I met the infamous @jeffpulver, co-founder of Vonage, author of the Pulver Order , and creator of the #140 Conference (the premier conference on Twitter and the real-time Internet.) responded to his tweet, we chatted on the phone and he asked me to co-host the event on Dec 14th, 2010. As a board member of the Technology Council of Southern I’ve been engaged with social networking for some time now, starting with Myspace and Facebook and just recently (within the last 30 days), Twitter. I’ve jumped on the bandwagon, big time!

Southern California's top startups showed up in force Friday at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, for the Technology Council of Southern California's annual VentureNet conference. (socalTECH socalTECH was a media sponsor of the conference). The conference, held at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, featured pitches by eight different The day started with a keynote by John Suh of Legalzoom.com, and topped off with a pitch from David Sacks -- CEO of Geni.com, and also CEO of Geni spinoff Yammer.com, which recently won the top prize at the TechCrunch50-- plus a question and answer session which had Matt Coffin, founder of LowerMyBills, grilling Internet technology celebrity Jason Calacanis. I’ve recently had a chance to reconnect with Eric David Greenspan ( LinkedIn , Twitter ) He’s the CEO of Make It Work a high quality, personal, high touch technology service provider for homes and small businesses. He’s done several startups and is a board member of the Technology Council of Southern California (which is where I met him originally). A great opportunity for more visible networking . I roughly know about MakeItWork, but tell me a bit about where you spend your time day-to-day. A typical day starts with email, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yammer checks/updates.

We do a lot of B2B and also have an "Early Stage Branding" practice for technology startups. One of the better opportunities here for companies to approach investors, VentureNet , recently opened up applications for the event, and it’s well worth a look by any aspiring startups looking for funding. The event, which is put on by the Technology Council of Southern California, allows companies to pitch what they’re doing to a panel and audience of investors.  I’ve been involved in the event for the past few years, and we’re a media sponsor, but even aside from our involvement it’s one of those rare events which are geared not to just add to profits for a conference company, but truly meant to help companies here get out there and get funded.
