Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus , a developer of Wi-Fi arrays, said today that it has deployed its products at the Illawara Grammar School located on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Financial impact of the sale was not disclosed. The firm's arrays, which combine multiple Wi-Fi access points into a single piece of hardware, were used in lieu of hundreds of standard access points.

Los Angeles-based Image Metrics said Monday that it has launched its facial animation technology product, FACEWARE. The new software is based on existing services the firm offers to game developers. The company also said the new package is being used in-house by game developer Bungie, the developer of HALO. Pricing on the new facial animation software was not released, and the firm did not say what the impact of the Bungie win was to the firm. I just had an all-too common conversation with the founder of a startup who had spent more than a year working with a software development company who had produced a mess. The mess really comes from a developer who was willing to get started on a product that was not fully thought out. I always take a very different approach in early conversations.
