Its primary focus is Web 2.0 Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present. dorkbot.org donates web space, email lists, etc. Event guests were treated to a promotional music CD of Tim Draper's Weekly updates! Please let me know if know of other items to add, or if you have any feedback on events. There's a promising new weekly morning networking event unlike any I've seen.

According to Eventful, the investment round also included existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Bay Partners. Eventful, which operate an online web site for promoting and sharing information about events, said it will use the new funding to expand sales and marketing, its mobile channel, and international expansion. San Diego-based Eventful announced late last night that it has raised $10M in a Series C funding round, led by Telefonica. The funding round brings the company's total raised to around $19.6M.

Cognition -- which is backed by Tim Draper, Draper Associates, Fingerhut Ventures, and the firm's CEO, Scott Jarus -- develops software which looks to understand English language search queries and web pages. Los Angeles-based Cognition Technologies, a provider of search engine technology, claimed Tuesday that it has created the "world's largest semantic map of the English language." The firm said that the information is being used as part of its technology for helping to improve search results and to personalize and filter content.

Social Project is behind the development of Flux, software which allows web publishers to create their own social networking web sites. Social Project was venture backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and MTV, and originally started as a competitor to MySpace. Santa Monica-based Social Project--which was once known as Tagworld--has been acquired by MTV Networks, MTV said Monday. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
