The new Eucalptus software allows enterprise customers to create and manage their own cloud using those hypervisors; the Eucalyptus cloud also supports the Amazon Web Services API, so those companies can run their own, private cloud in-house with existing software built for Amazon EC2. RightScale said it will support creating, managing, and automating IBM DB2 Express-C on such services as Amazon EC2. RightScale devleops products which help in deploying applications across Amazon EC2 and other cloud computing environments. Santa Barbara-based cloud computing management software firm RightScale is linking its products into IBM DB2, one of the major enterprise database software packages, the firm said today. IBM DB2 is the free version of IBM's DB2 database server.

Mobicip uses Amazon.com's EC2 to power its service. Thousand Oaks-based Mobicip , a developer of web filtering products for parents, disclosed this morning that the firm has rolled out a new product targeted at parents of children with iPhones, the iPod Touch, and Netbooks. The firm said its new product, Mobicip.com Premium, offers tracking and filtering of web usage based on age-appropriate filtering levels, and also allows parents to create their own lists of allowed and disallowed web site for browsing.

The focus was S3 - storage service, EC2 - their compute cloud, their queuing system, and their flexible payment system. The EC2 is very similar to having a Linux box in a colocation facility. This would seem to be a good case for us to separate off matching and making that a more scalable operation on EC2. I went to an event by Amazon on their Amazon Web Services in Santa Monica today. The S3 system is not a transactional object system, it's for larger objects, larger updates.

RightScale's software helps companies deploy servers into cloud computing clusters such as Amazon EC2. Santa Barbara-based RightScale , a firm which develops cloud computing management software, has linked its products with New Relic, a developer of application performance management software, the firms said this week. RightScale said that its Cloud Computing Management Platform can be used with New Relic's RPM software.
