Orange-based Marshal8e6 , a developer of web and email security tools, said today that it has added email encryption to its lineup. According to the firm, its new offering, MailMarshal SendSecure, will provide encryption of email messages via a hosted service. Irvine-based Autobytel , which provides an online marketing and lead generation service for automotive dealers, announced today that it has re-launched an email marketing program. The firm said that its Email Manager program is targeted at interact with car buyers in a "lengthening purchase cycle." Irvine-based Sendio, which develops email security software, has rolled out an upgraded version of the firm's email security appliance. The appliance uses a combination of SMTP tests and other methods to identify e-mail servers, along with sender address verification to very senders of emails to a user. According to Sendio, its E-Mail Security Platform (ESP) eliminates spam and thwarts viruses. The appliance--which was formerly known as the Sendio I.C.E.

Email Address Almost every startup wants and needs email as a means of notifying users. In the meantime, I will say that most startups will want to have an email address for users. San Diego-based BakBone Software has acquired email infrastructure provider ColdSpark, in a deal worth approximately $15.9M, the firm said Thursday. ColdSpark develops email transport software for the enterprise, and is based in Broomfield, Colorado. Los Angeles-based Docstoc , an online document and sharing startup, said Wednesday that it has added email uploading and publishing to the service.
