PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association have weighed in on Q3 venture capital totals, saying that $475.5M Nationally, the MoneyTree report from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association based on data from Thomson Reuters, found that there was $4.8 PwC/NVCA said that Mission Ventures and Enterprise Partners were the most active local VCs for the quarter, with five deals was invested in 65 Southern California deals in Q3, compared to $773.3M and 87 deals in Q3 of last year.

A quick analysis by socalTECH of our tracking of venture capital deals in Southern California finds that there was around $879M in venture funding activity here in Q3. The biggest are for venture activity in the quarter was Biopharmaceuticals, which was $299.13M of the quarterly total.
San terms of venture firms, the most active firms here for Q3 were Western Technology Investment and the The information--gleaned from funding announcements, regulatory filings, and other sources--are not far off from socalTECH's totals from last quarter, which totaled up around $932M in investment activity.

VMIX is venture backed by JK&B Capital and ATA Ventures, Mission Ventures and Enterprise Partners.
San Diego-based VMIX , a provider of software for managing online video, said this morning that the firm has signed on automotive brand Scion. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.

The firm is backed by JK&B Capital, ATA Ventures, Mission Ventures and Enterprise Partners. San Diego-based VMIX , which provides a platform for publishing and managing online video, reports today that it has signed on an ad agency and reseller, which has resulted in more than 30 customers for the firm. The firm said that South Carolina-based Fuel Interactive has been using the firm's video players and widgets, as part of the creation of 30 tourism-related web sites based in that state.

Co-founder and EVP Terry Ash is now in charge of partner alliances, and the firm has hired on Dan Charleston as SVP of Business Development. The company is venture backed by ATA Ventures, Enterprise Partners, JK&B Capital, and Mission Ventures. San Diego-based VMIX, a provider of video publishing tools for web publishers, said today that the firm has shuffled its executive staff and delivered a new version of its VMIX Player. According to the firm, the moves come as it goes into an "aggressive expansion" phase.
