Getting research out of the university lab and into a growing business poses a unique set of challenges - especially when the scientist is assumed to be the entrepreneur. While having a thorough understanding of their breakthroughs in technology or science it is the routine acts of fund raising, hiring resources and managing for results rather than publications that make taking research out of the lab and into a start-up a special case. I recently got together with Aaron Shechet and an early stage startup to discuss the direction the company might want to take. It was a great conversation and I thought it would be a good idea to do some visible networking with Aaron to get to know him better. Tell me a bit about your background. I grew up in Los Angeles and went to undergrad at UC Santa Barbara, graduating in 2003 with Honors in Economics. then went to Pepperdine University I Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law, of which I served as an Executive Board Member and am currently a Fellow.
