The Social Media Club panel on Google Analytics event that I participated in is now online. 150+ people were in attendance at Mahalo. At one point before the event, I realized that I was trying to do 3 things at the same time: a) talking to Efren ( TechZulu ) about how he broadcasts the event b) setting up pizza and beverages and c) meeting my fellow panelists (I only knew the moderator) before panelizing together. I had a great time speaking with Erica Fourette and the other panelists.

SMCLA ( Social Media Club Los Angeles ) will be hosted tonight at the Mahalo offices in Santa Monica. Pictures and videos from newsworthy events make it to the web via mobile phones and hand held devices and first hand accounts are micro blogged in 140 characters or less before any traditional news outlet is able to cover the story. Twiistup 6 took place last week and this time around, under new management, the event went through a few changes. was really enjoying the layout of the event and the fact that we were set up near a power source, but unfortunately being in the back made it hard to hear the people on stage.
Speculation was that Mahalo had been acquired or secured additional funding, but it turns out that the news was more on a personal level. Instead of a one evening mixer that highlighted the showoffs and gave people a chance to mingle and get to know the companies, it was expanded to a two day conference with panels, and plenty of time for mingling.

Rather than write something just for Mark, I thought I would let everybody else know what the good, tech-oriented networking events are in Los Angeles.
For the tech-oriented networker, there is one primary thing to keep in mind: Know the target audience for each event that you are interested in. Early in my networking days, it was easy to find a tech event — there weren’t any. My friend Mark Long recently asked me about networking in Los Angeles. Mark is a CTO, see, and his company, PortBlue , was recently acquired (congrats, Mark!).
