In this post, I want to look at just the question of when it makes sense to use Facebook Connect, Twitter Oauth, OpenID, Yahoo Browser-Based Authentication, Google Friend Connect or basically any of the other authentication mechanisms. Example What do I mean? Search Engines – Google, Yahoo, MSN, ASK redirect billions of searches everyday. One of the best examples was when social news aggregator Mixx.com landed its deal to have its links on all of CNN’s online articles, likely one of the main factors that helped their traffic skyrocket . For example, how can you show related content or automatically surface the content that is most topical “If You Build It…They Will Come” may work for historical baseball ghosts, but it’s not a strategy you can rely on when starting an internet company.

There are great differences between the way information flows from these services across the Web, how identity is established between them (and verified or not), and whether the embedded application models are standardized or not (Facebook brings real app standardization to the table and the ability to tap deeply into social data for example, while blogs/wikis don’t offer much of either), to name a couple of key ssues. And she currently hosts shows on Yahoo! Shira Lazar currently hosts Yahoo!’s And then I actually just launched a new Yahoo! so it's a little convergence of TV content on the web, on Yahoo! However, I was waiting in line at the bathroom and I decided to tweet that I was enjoying the last two hours of my weekend before starting my new What I admire about Shira Lazar is that she's too much of a go-getter to wait for the perfect TV gig to come to her. I've watched her build her reputation and fan-base using new media tools like Qik, Wordpress and Twitter.
