Costa Mesa-based Lumexis , a developer of in-flight entertainment and broadband connectivity systems, announced late Monday that it has scored $15M in a private equity funding from Perseus LLC. According to Lumexis, the financing round also included prior investors PAR Capital Management and Zone Ventures, and includes an option for an additional investment of $7.5M. Lumexis Lumexis claims that the firm's new order came because of its cost, weight, and reliability advantages. The core of the firm's systems is the use of fiber optic cabling. ...Tags:

Arcadia-based Siimpel Corporation, a developer of micro-electrical-mechanical optical technology, announced today that it has scored another round of funding. Amount of the funding was not disclosed. Siimpel said the new round of funding was led by DOCOMO Capital, and also included Qualcomm, Motorola, Micron Technology, and its existing venture investors, which includes Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Portage Venture Partners, Zone Ventures, Siimpel is developing MEMs-based optical systems which are being used to develop mobile cameras; the firm's MEMs technology is being used to reduce the size of optical systems in those cameras.
Carlsbad-based Luxtera appears to have raised $26.75M in another venture round, according to this week's PricewaterhouseCoopers/NVCA MoneyTree report. No details on the funding have been disclosed, however, the firm has previously raised three rounds of capital from August Capital, ITU Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Sevin Rosen Funds, and Zone Ventures.
