San Diego-based Elecelyx Therapeutics , a stealth mode biotech firm, has raised $1.2M in a funding round, which includes Morgenthaler Ventures, according to a regulatory filing this week. Details on the funding have not been announced by the company. The filing indicates the firm is looking to raised $2.2M in the round.

San Diego-based b>EMN8 , a developer of order taking kiosks for the fast food industry, has raised $14.4M in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. The funding has not been announced by the company. EMN8 is backed by GRP Partners, Sid R. Bass Associates, and Fort Washington Capital.

San Diego-based storage provider Overland Storage said Thursday that the firm has bolstered its channel partner program, and will be providing dedicated sales and marketing support, deal registration, and other products which it says will increase revenue opportunities for its resellers. Among the firm's additional channel benefits are business development funds, discounts on evaluation units, and training.

David Titus , a venture capitalist at Windward Ventures , has joined the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation as Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives, the nonprofit said yesterday. The San Diego EDC is a nonprofit helping to bolster businesses in the San Diego region, and said that Titus will help support the group in familiarizing company executives in San Diego with the group's mission, encourage them to grow in the region, and also look to attract and identify companies looking to expand and create jobs. Titus is a co-founder and Managing Director at Windward Ventures, which he co-founded with Jim Cole.

San Diego News Network , an online, local community news site run by Neil Senturia and Barbara Bry, as well as former executives of the San Diego Union Tribune, has raised $707,220 in funding, part of a $2.0M funding effort by the company. The funding was disclosed in a regulatory filing Tuesday. SDNN operates an online local news site, driven both by partnerships with other news organizations, bloggers, and contributors. It was CardioNet , which is a great company Jim Sweeney started/runs down in San Diego (and participated in OCTANe's CA Medical Device Forum in 2006) at the intersection of health care and wireless data. (Congrats, Patrick's Day funding IPO Oil globalizatio I was reading the daily Venture Wire blurb last Friday. Usually these are "quick reads" and sort of a mix between a story in the LA Times and Food and Wine, but the content in this one was particularly fascinating and alarming at the same time.
