Webtide was self-funded, and was headed by Adam Lieber, who has previously been at Gluecode and Mission Ventures. Jetty is very widely used in web servers and software applications, including HP OpenView, Zimbra, Hadoop, Google AppEngine, Oracle WebLogic, and other enterprise software. Los Angeles-based Webtide , which develops the popular Jetty Application Server for the Java programming language, has been acquired by Intalio. Intalio announced the buy Tuesday morning, but did not disclose financial terms of the buy.

Adam also had a stint at Mission Ventures, and ran worldwide sales for open source middleware at IBM. We also work with Google's App Engine and widget toolkit. Our open source powers Hadoop, Jetty powers Google--if you look at our community site, the list of products that use use is exhaustive. One of the big, open source successes in both Southern California and the software world was Gluecode Software , which was based in Los Angeles and acquired by IBM in 2005. One of the firm's co-founders, Adam Lieber , is now the founder and CEO of Webtide (www.webtide.com),

The number of venture fundings and companies we cover on the public side (RSS feeds, news, etc.) is dwarfed by the number of non-announced venture funding, new companies, and other information you can mine from our database .
