I did a presentation about the use of Social Media to a great group of people who mostly are different kinds of service professionals (attorneys, accountants, consultants, etc.). Unfortunately, that means that every post you should stop and think about the title and maybe even research it using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool . You can see examples like eLearning Learning which I promised that I would do a follow-up post with some thoughts out of the presentation and providing links. This is that post. Value of Blogging I started the presentation talking about

During the last year, I’ve spoken to numerous investor relations officers (IROs) on the topic of social media and investor relations. The minute a company notice its stock price has started to wobble, IROs should go online and search sites like Google blog, socialmention.com or stocktwits.com – be sure to adjust your search time frame to last five days or less

By using Google as a semantic mining engine to assess a web community's culture. For the Google index at large, love dominates hate by an impressive 9 to 1 margin (that stat makes me happy). On MySpace, love eeks out a more modest 6 to 1 spread. I calcuated these ratios by using the results from these Google searches: site:{sitename.com} love site:{sitename.com} hate To decide if the ratios were higher or lower than the world at large, I compared them to the simple ratio of "love" and One of the first things you notice about twitter is what a positive, happy place it is.

On Facebook (and nearly all social networks that preceded it) the relationship was always reciprocal – if I accept your invitation to follow me then I have to follow you. But when Michael Arrington announces that he’s giving up his iPhone because he’s pissed off with the network and with your blocking Google Voice then you sure better know. So the following list is not exhaustive (if I’ve missed This post is part of my ongoing series Twitter 101 for all those that still “don’t get” Twitter. I’m now moving from the 101 basics into the business applications. I

I’ve written about Google’s Data Liberation Front before … They are the nice people dedicated to making sure its as easy to get your data out of the cloud as it is to get it in .
A beefed up export feature for Google Docs now allows you to convert, zip and download multiple files in a couple simple steps. You can zip up to 500MB of files (more than almost Today they announced a new feature worth acknowledging. Just one more reason Google Apps is a great MS Office substitute for most people and organizations…

Just a quick note that I'll be moderating a Technology Council Event : Social Networking as a Business Strategy May 19, 2009 - Culver City Social networking media are used on a daily basis to grow businesses and expand career opportunities. Individuals use social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Plaxo as career-advancing tools, even more useful in a down economy.
