so I feel I have an unbiased appreciation for BOTH Californias.
But LA is not Silicon Valley and we don’t need to aspire to be so. We They not only have gotten bigger but they have an amazing track record of funding the biggest names in the sector: Cisco, Apple, Google, Facebook. As LA produced Applied Semantics that Los Angeles. People People either love it our hate it. All

So when I saw the merely mortal Tristan with a normal sized Twitter following I clicked through to his link, saw his blog, saw that he was a second year at Stanford and just thought, “hey, he seems like an interesting guy. Maybe But I had an hour to kill before lunch and I was on California Street in Palo Alto. I So I agreed to meet If you use Twitter and think it is a valuable service then you’re probably tired of the steady stream of your friends who tell you it’s just a fad and they don’t feel compelled to join. Google's new Ad Manager technology will soon enable premium ad banners to be sold directly to advertisers by publishers and when the clicks are used up on the premium ads it will revert automatically to use Google Adsense. Clicks are usually sold via banners and text ads at a 2x to 4x premium cutting out Google. This is a brilliant move and will further accelerate the gap between premium content and generic publishers who don't provide any unique content value. I

Search engine giant Google is now pulling more traffic information from local streets around Southern California, saying Tuesday that it has added major traffic arteries and local street data to the firm's Google Maps service. Google is tapping data that the firm is gathering from cell phone users who use Google Maps on their mobile devices; the firm says that it is collecting GPS data from those users, who give it permission. That information is being used by Google to calculate speed and traffic congestion information, which is displayed on its interactive maps.

I was recently talking with the CEO of a high tech startup here, and he asked me — why did I bother covering Southern California companies? Why not write more articles about Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc. Why care about Southern California as a place for high tech?
Why not go big and focus on all startups, only cutting edge Web 2.0 startups/etc.,

I’m always interested in how much more focus Silicon Valley companies get in the press–and mindshare–than companies located in Southern California, even among people here in the region.
had the opportunity to talk to an MBA class at USC last night, and talking to the students I was surprised to find that most of the students weren’t aware of how much clean technology activity there is in Southern California. I Asked to name an electric car company, most people mention Tesla Motors , the Silicon Valley darling, but aren’t aware of the numerous
