Sheldon was most recently at Enphase Energy, and also served at SMA America and Xantrex, two firms in the photovoltaic inverter market. Power-One said the appointment would help support the firm's efforts in the global PV and wind inverter market.

In papers filed Thursday evening by Iron Planet, the Pleasanton-based firm said it is looking to raise up to $92M in an IPO on the NASDAQ Global Market. Mota Motors is developing a service to help consumers buy and sell used automobiles; the firm has previously scored funding from Prism VentureWorks. Reza Bundy , the founder of Venice-based Mota Motors , looks to be a major beneficiary of an IPO -- not of his current firm, but of his prior company, Iron Planet . Bundy founded Iron Planet, which is venture backed by Accel Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, as well as Caterpillar

Gideon Shalwick is an online video marketing entrepreneur and teacher. Gideon and I talked about several approaches to marketing online, but when I asked him about his most successful method, he said, “join up with someone else who already has a list that they built up throughout the years. He told me that before “every promotion we do now, every launch, we make sure we have team of affiliates or launch partners or joint venture partners to help us promote our product. Because we’re just trying to help people. They were first to market with domestic, person-to-person lending. But my gut on this one is that five years from now, ten years from now, by Prosper being so aggressive and getting out way out in front and being a first mover, that they will be the market leader when it comes to domestic person-to-person lending because they got upfront and they’ll figure out this regulatory issue. Do you know people who too much time on the details of their ideas instead of just launching?
